Summary The Compliance Developer is responsible for designing, building, and optimizing technical solutions that support regulatory compliance, risk management, and financial crime prevention. This role collaborates closely with compliance and risk teams to implement systems for AML, KYC, transaction monitoring, and regulatory reporting, while ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance of compliance infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain compliance platform components supporting KYC, AML, sanctions/PEP screening, transaction monitoring, and suspicious activity workflows. Develop data pipelines from exchange systems (trades, deposits/withdrawals, wallet activity, user metadata) into compliance tooling and analytics layers. Implement rule engines and detection logic for on-chain and off-chain risk patterns (structuring, layering, mule activity, high-risk jurisdiction flows, typologies). Partner with Compliance to translate policies and regulatory requirements into technical controls, alerts, thresholds, and automated decisions. Optimize monitoring performance: reduce false positives, improve precision/recall, and ensure explainability for audits and regulators. Build internal tools for compliance case management, evidence tracking, and investigator workflows. Support regulatory reporting automation (SAR/STR support packs, audit logs, data exports, license reporting). Ensure strong engineering standards: code quality, testing, observability, uptime SLAs, and secure handling of sensitive data. Participate in incident response for compliance-related events (fraud spikes, sanction hits, major typology changes). Document systems and controls clearly to support audits and internal reviews. Qualifications & Experience 4-7+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in fintech, crypto, payments, or risk/compliance platforms. Strong backend development skills (e.g., Java/Go/Python/Node.js) and experience with microservices. Solid data engineering ability: streaming/batch pipelines, event schemas, and warehousing (e.g., Kafka, Spark/Flink, Snowflake/BigQuery). Experience building or integrating KYC/AML, sanctions screening, or transaction monitoring systems. Comfortable working with risk rule logic, thresholds, and investigative feedback loops. Knowledge of compliance frameworks and expectations (BSA/AML concepts, FinCEN typologies, auditability, data retention). Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate ambiguous regulatory needs into scalable engineering solutions. Good communication and cross-functional collaboration with Compliance/Risk stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
